What is ‘Praying With Fire?’
‘Praying With Fire’ is a book about prayer, written by Rabbi Heshy Kleinman, with 89 brief daily lessons on how to improve your power of prayer. Each lesson takes about 5 min. per day. You need to get a copy of the book from your advisor to participate in the contest. The book is free for NCSYers.
How do I register to use the Project Ignite contest website?
Register as a user by logging in and creating a username and password.
You’ll also be asked for your region, so we can count your points earned toward your region’s total.
Who is allowed to become a registered user?
To be a registered user, you must be a current NCSY member age 13 or over and no older than 19. Users can also be any NCSY Advisor or Regional Director or staff member.
How do I participate in this contest?
There are seven ways to earn points for the contest . For example, for learning the ‘Praying With Fire’ “daily lesson,” you get 20 points per day.
You should get a Project Ignite “My Points” card from your advisor or you can download a card. Keep track of your points on your card, and then enter them at this website.
What if I can’t get to a computer every day or I just don’t have time to log on regularly?
Regional directors will give Project Ignite “My Points” cards to NCSYers in their region. Keep that card in your siddur or ‘Praying With Fire’ book. Whenever you earn points, note them on the card. Then when you are on the computer, you can enter the points, using the card to help you remember.
A week is from Motzei Shabbos through sundown the next Friday (7 days). That way, you earn 5 points that week, just for logging on.
This means you can earn 5 points each week of the contest – just for logging on once that week.
What is the “Praying With Passion” newsletter and how do I get points for reading it?
“Praying with Passion” is a weekly email newsletter about the meaning of the prayers.
You are to read it by the end of Shabbos. You get points for reading the newsletter, each week.
You can download it by clicking on the Yellow “Newsletters” Icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
What is a teleconference?
Three times during the duration of the contest, there will be a teleconference with the author of Praying With Fire, Rabbi Heshy Kleinman.
Rabbi Kleinman will speak on a topic related to increasing our power of prayer. That will be followed by a question answer session.
Everyone on the line will be able to hear Rabbi Kleinman. You can download the flyer for an upcoming teleconference by clicking the yellow teleconference icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
How can I find out when teleconferences are?

How do I participate in teleconference?
In the Teleconference announcement there will be a dial in number and a code. After you dial the dial in number, wait for the voice prompt asking you for the participant code. Then just enter the code, followed by a pound sign.
Can I just enter all my points whenever I want, even the last day of the contest?
Contest will end at the end of the current NCSY programming year, all points must be entered by that date.

How do my points get added into my region totals?
As soon as you finish entering your points, they are added into the totals for your region.
Where can I see the region totals and how my region is winning?
You can see your region totals on the page with the region map.
How do I know that other NCSYers are entering correct information?
Each regional director will have access to a report, where they can see names of everyone from their region who participated and how many points each person earned. If the points earned don’t seem realistic, they will have the opportunity to see that on the report.
Can other NCSYers see how many points I earned?
No, only you can see how many points you earn. By logging in with a password, you get access to your own points. |
